What a week!

Our little patch of dirt has taken shape and is looking just like we hoped!! This week we have gone from having just a slab to having a full frame including windows and gutters :) Check out the pictures below..

The most exciting news is that we chose our tiles today - with only a little stress.. (hehe who would have thought how much all those little extras would add up to!) but we are both completly happy with them.... we've done the whole house inside and out in a tile called drift-sand.. I can't wait to see them in the house!!

AND in other good news...............

Our bricks got delivered today! Woohoo!! Our front yard is absolutly full with bricks, can't wait to see them go up next week!!

alfresco, now with guttering..

Windows go in

We were tossing around the idea yesterday of changing our alfresco sliding door to an aluminium bifold. But after weighing the pro's and cons we decided that whilst it might look nice, we'd much prefer to stick with the sliding door so we can add flyscreens and keep the flys and mozzies out of the house - The $5000 price tag was also an influencing factor..

We drove by last night, not expecting much as it has been raining - and 1/4 of the framework for our roof was up and all our windows were in already! Happy with our side-light choice and our window glazings as well :) Its nice to see in person, and in full size - might add some photos next time I can get there and its actually still daylight!

Hopefully choosing tiles on friday!

The Frame is UP!!

The frame is up and we seem to have a family of crows living on our house! So not a bird fan!! Shamit scared them all away before taking this picture, maybe they won't return?

The walls went up quickly, hoping we'll have a roof as well soon!

Might be hard to see, but in the middle of the room is my island bench :)

We have timber!!

Shamit drove by last night and our timber had been delivered.. is it sad that i'm really excited to see a pile of timber??

Imagine what i'd be like when they actually start putting the frame up!! :)

FHOG..

Applied for our first home owners grant extension today - fingers crossed everything goes nice and smoothly and our extension gets approved..
With the house and the wedding this year, the extra money would be nice to have!

Delays...

Timber delayed till 'the end of the week'.. if it was sunny then it would be more of an issue.. Lets hope we have a rain free winter! haha I can dream!

Still no word on our boundary trap position.. not even sure if it can be moved or how we will cope when we pave that area... a very unexpected feature to our extended alfresco area!

Pipes & Drains

On Friday they had dug right around our slab to put in additional pipes - covering our slab with a mound of dirt. We took a picture of a workman in a whole up to his shoulders, so that gives a good idea of the depth they went to.

We went back yesterday to have a look and everything is now filled in again.. Our backyard has two pipes sticking up though - right where we are meant to be paving for our entertaining area. I've been told that these pipes are the overflow pipes and need to be left exposed - not happy!!

Builders have a copy of our landscape plan, so not sure why they would do this... Shamit is calling them today!

Catch Up

After 8 months of contract discussions, additions, changes and amends work began on our site the last week of March 2010. YaY! Great News.... and then.. we stalled (of course!). Always needing a project to work on, we returned to planning our upcoming wedding, and yes, we have finally booked a venue!

Back to the house again, we are building the Galleria 210 with AV Jennings and work began again last week and hasn't stopped since, now the slab is down with a few more days to dry out. Timber has been ordered and with a bit of luck it should start going up next monday! Absoulutly can't wait to see the little patch of dirt we bought turn into our home!

Here are some pictures of our progress so far! :)

Yes, we are happy - progress at last!!

Concrete has never looked so good :)
